Well, it is official! The Jamison's are leaving for Dubai. After eight months of applying, hundreds of applications, hundreds of emails, six interviews and five offers we have finally found a teaching position that fits our family. Who would have thought that finding a job overseas could be so hard. It was a very long and difficult process for us. There were some great highs and devastating lows. It seemed as though when people heard that I had no formal teaching experience and a family, they were no longer interested in me. Oh, well...they lost out on a great teacher.
Sometimes I wished that God would clearly reveal His plan for us. I believe that we were stepping out in faith when we sold our house and had no firm plans yet. The whole time I knew we were held in the palm of His hand. But, there were times when I doubted what He was doing. We had a few offers but none of them seemed to fit. This week was especially hard because I had to decide whether or not to accept a job in China without seeing the offer from Dubai. I got home from shopping and was about to write my letter to China declining the job. As soon as I walk in the door I get an email from Dubai with the offer of employment. What timing! It was direct confirmation that we were making a good choice (I believe). This journey of finding a job has made me realize how great God's timing is, how to trust and rely on Him, reminded me of His faithfulness and what it means to fully lay my plans and my agenda at His feet. It seems as if we had all these OK or good offers but God wanted us to wait for His best and His perfect for us.
I will be teaching kindergarten at a local school. It is not an international school but they teach the IB or international curriculum. I am super excited to be teaching this age group. It will be so fun singing and dancing and learning through play. I am not at all nervous for this position as I have been preparing my whole career for this.
Paul plans on staying at home with Evan for the first little bit until we are acclimatized and settled. We will be living in a studio apartment at first. GAH! This will be interesting...After figuring out the city we will find a better apartment for us. Paul will then look for work in Dubai. Evan will be able to come to school with me as there is a nursery program there for the children of teachers. What a blessing! The day for kindergarten students starts at 7:50 and they leave at 12:50. The rest of the school finishes at 1:50.
I am so thankful to be going to a city where we have friends. I went to school with this friend from kindergarten to grade 12. We have quite the history together. It is so nice to have someone in the same city who knows a lot about it already. They will be able to help us with where to shop, doctors, hospitals, things to see/do etc. She has two boys so Evan will have friends there too!
This is a two year contract. If anyone who reads this wants to visit Dubai, let us know. We would love to have visitors. Until next time...
